Defensive individual tactics drill for 2 vs 2 with shot at goal |
Feints and tricks, Pass, Shooting, Positioning, Marking, Tackling, Collective defensive tactical principles, Man on man, 2 versus 1, 2 versus 2 |
Near the penalty area, inside a half field, create a playing area of 40x25 meters using markers. Use the regulatory goal defended by a goalkeeper (or use two small goals positioned on the end line 10 meters away from eachother). On the left and on the right of the goal, 5 meters from the end line, place two cones as shown in the picture. 10 meters from them, vertically, place other two cones. 20 meters from the goal, place two starting markers 8-10 meters away from each other. Red players (attackers) split into two groups and go in line behind the starting markers, starting two at a time with a ball. White players (defenders) start two at a time, one in front of the goal (A) and the other from the cone near the end line (B). Six attackers and six defenders alternate in the exercise.
- To the coach's signal two attackers start the attack to try and shoot at goal
- Defender A moves forward to attack, defending the goal (initial 2 vs 1)
- At the same time, defender B sprints from one cone to the other to then help the teammate to defend the goal (movements 1 and 2). 2 vs 2 situation
- A's objective is to slow down attackers' action waiting for the help of the teammate
- Attackers' objective is to quickly shoot at goal to take advantage of numerical superiority
- Rotate starting positions of attackers and defenders
- Alternate a start from the right to one from the left of the goal
- Encourage the first defender to slow down the attackers using the right body positioning
- Encourage defender A to push the attacker to pass the ball where the other defender can conquer it
- Encourage attackers to shoot at goal quickly
- Encourage communication between defenders
- The goalkeeper can communicate to help the defenders
