Place four poles and create a diamond shape with sides of 10 meters. Divide players into four groups (A, B, C e D) of three players each. Each group goes next to a pole. First player of group A starts with a ball.
The player passes the ball to the teammate in front of them and moves to put pressure on them. The receiver can pass the ball to the player on their right or on their left. If they choose the player on the right, they then go at the end of the line on the left. When the player receives the ball, the player on the left moves to put pressure on the receiver.
Below an example:
- Player A passes the ball to player B
- A puts pressure on B; B passes the ball to C on the right
- B goes behind group D in B1; A goes behind group B in A1; player D puts pressure on C; C decides to pass towards the right (group A) or the left (group B) and according to this decision the drill goes on
- Play with no more than two ball touches (receive and pass the ball)
- Do not pass the ball to players, the ball should be guided changing direction to avoid pressure
- Add visual or acoustic signals (for example, the player who puts pressure raises their right arm and the teammate have to pass towards the left)
- Players perform pre-established ball controls (using the inside of the foot, the outside of the foot...)
- This drill encourages quick decisions to find better solutions (reaction, processing, adjustment)
- Encourage players to choose the teammate who receives the ball before they receive the pass
- Reaction to intellectual stimulation
- This exercise's cognitive load is ideal to raise thinking players
- Pay attention to intensity and quality of ball transmissions
- Pay attention to ball control
