Preparatory drill for the seek of depth through striker's cuts |
Oriented control, Losing your marker, Pass, Positioning, Intercepting, Insertion |
Arrange, with markers, a rectangle 8 x 5 yards. Along the long side of the court, arrange, with cones, two small goals measuring 2 yards each (as illustrated). Place one player per side, not outside the side with the 2 small goals, where the striker places himself, between the 2 goals, just inside the rectangle. Inside the rectangle 2 defenders must be ready to start. 20 yards outside the rectangle, in front of the side with the 2 small goals, put a regolatory goal and a goal keeper to defend it.
- Let's play a Rondo with 4 external players trying to keep ball possession without being intercepted by the 2 defenders inside the rectangle
- If a defender regains the ball, he takes the place of the player he just intercepted.
- Goal of this drill is to make a pass through one of the two small goals for the cut of the striker (as illustrated)
- The deep pass can only be done by one of the two external players
- The striker served with a deep pass tries to finalize
- As the striker is served with a deep pass , the defenders are allowed to chase him outside the rectangle to prevent hom from finalize
- 2 ball-contacts are allowed
- Only external players can serve a deep pass for the cut of the striker
- The striker collaborates with his 3 team-mates during the Rondo
- The perimeter of the side where the 2 small goals are, works as an off-side line
- Vary the number of ball-contacts during the Rondo
- The off-side line is determined by the position of the defenders and in this case the striker and his mate on the opposite long side are free to play inside the rectangle
- If you do not have a goal keeper available, put a small goal instead of the regolatory goal
- Also the center midfield can insert himself on a pass through the small goal made by an external player (as illustrated below)
4
- Encourage the players to play the ball from one side to another, with no rush, playing it with the center midfield
- Check the body positioning of the center midfield while he moves the ball around
- Verufy intensity of ball transmission
- The striker must cacth the right moment to make his cut
- The 2 defenders must try and close the passing-lines towards the small goal and the direct play-change, trying to push the external player to have just one option, towards the center midfield
