Summary | Secondary Objectives |
---|---|
Small sided game to develop the ability of constructing the game starting from central defenders, and stimulating transitions |
Losing your marker, Finishing, Goal defense, Creating width and depth, 4-3-3, Ball possession |
Form a 50x35 playing area using the markers. Play simulating the 4-3-3 system with 2 red defenders and 3 red midfielders against 3 white midfielders and 3 white strikers. Place a goal on one the long side of the field. 2 neutral players stay externally on the other long side (the green players in the figure). The goalkeeper defends the goal and starts with the ball.
The red team plays to maintain possession and the white team trying to score.
Both teams can benefit from the overload passing the ball to the neutrals which play with the team that passes the ball to them. With this themed game, players are arranged with the 4-3-3 positions, and they get used to the teammates positions and movement during the construction phase and also attacking phase in the final third (white team).
An example of ball movement
Construction with the low rhombus formation
- Whenever the ball goes out, the game starts again from the goalkeeper
- Obligation to play with the ball close to the ground
- The neutrals can't be tackled
- The neutrals can move freely along the whole long side
- Encourage the red defenders to take positions widely during the constructing phase, to create passing lines
- Stimulate the goalkeeper to take part actively during the construction phase
- Stimulate both teams during positive and negative transitions
