Create a playing area of 20x15 meters using markers. Divide the pitch in half: here are the finishing zone and the build-up zone. In the middle of the short sides place two goals (use the right size for your age group). On two sides of the finishing zone, in the middle, create two 1-meter starting gates where players start with the ball (as shown in the picture). Divide players into two teams (red players attack while white players defend). Two goalkeepers defend the goals.
- Two pairs of red players go to the starting gates with the ball
- One defender go to the first zone and the other one goes to the second zone, defending their goal. Other two defenders wait outside the field
- One red player passes the ball to the goalkeeper and enters the pitch together with the red player on the other side: inside the buil-up zone they play a 3 vs 1 (two red players and a goalkeeper vs one white player)
- The attackers have to execute three consecutive passes inside this zone without losing the ball
- After three passes, one red player can move inside the finishing zone to receive the ball
- Once this player receives the ball, a 1 vs 1 duel begins: attacker vs defender
- If the defender recovers the ball, they have to pass it to their goalkeeper outside the goal space
- If the attacker shoots at goal, the action ends and next players can start
- After every action or two, swap the starting position of the two defenders, alternating pairs of players
- At the end of the first series swap attackers' and defenders' positions (switching roles)
- Players cannot drive the ball from one zone to the other, there must be a pass from build-up zone to finishing zone
- Before a pass to the finishing zone, players have to execute three consecutive passes
- The defender inside the finishing zone cannot attack the opponent before the latter receives the ball from a teammate
- Free number of ball touches
- During the first phase of the drill, inside build-up zone, players with the ball have three ball touches max
- Encourage mobility and losing the marker to maintain ball possession
- Encourage losing the marker to verticalize the ball and then duel 1 vs 1
- Encourage fantasy, unpredictability and dribbling when dueling
- Pay attention to individual tactical defense during 3 vs 1 and 1 vs 1
- For younger players, encourage swapping roles to enrich their technical-tactical skills
