6 v 6 themed game that trains ball possession under pressure |
Oriented control, Losing your marker, Pass, Marking, Intercepting, Tackling, Creating width and depth |
Create a 35x25-meter/38x27-yard playing rectangle. Inside the rectangle, players position themselves freely, divided into two teams of six (red versus white). Place seven cones scattered throughout the playing area. Ball to one of the two teams.
- The six players in possession of the ball must maintain possession for as long as possible
- The six players not in possession of the ball must try to recover the ball
- As soon as possible the players in possession of the ball must try to hit any of the cones with a precision shot. If a cone is hit the team that hit it earns 1 point
- Free number of ball touches available
- The team in possession of the ball earns a point if they can make a triangulation on a cone (as in the picture)
- Add a joker who always plays with the team in possession of the ball, thus creating numerical superiority
- You may want to add some options (e.g. 6 consecutive passes to get 1 point). This allows players on the team in possession of the ball to be quick in developing the pass between teammates. Also for players on the team not in possession to be consistent in pressing until they win the ball
- Ball possession:
- Create possession triangles to avoid opponents
- Work on the reaction to the negative transition
- Work on the distances between players
- Work on body positioning when receiving the ball, it should always be facing the widest part of the pitch
- After passing the ball to a teammate, the player keeps running to an empty space to receive the ball again
- The player that has the ball must always have available a minimum number of players that can guarantee a pass at any time
- Encourage players to perform the counter movement to lose the marker
- Increase or reduce the dimension of the rectangle based on the available number of players
