Outside the penalty box, 10 meters from the line, create two squares of 5x5 meters using eight markers. Squares are on the right and on the left of the goal, about 20 meters from eachother. Divide players into two teams (red and white in the picture). One player per team starts inside their square, working in pairs. Place five balls in a row between the squares, distancing them about 2 meters from each other. This row of balls is 10 meters distant from both squares. The goalkeeper defends the goal.
- At the coach's signal, the first two players (white vs red) have to conquer the balls by taking them back inside their square
- They have to drive two balls inside their square, one at a time
- The first player who conquers the third ball becomes the attacker, while the other one becomes the defender
- The attacker faces the defender in a 1 vs 1 situation with the aim to shoot at goal
- If the defender recovers the ball they have to attack and try to shoot at goal
- Balls should be brought inside the square only one at a time
- 1 vs 1 situation lasts until there is a shoot at goal
- Each goal gives 1 point to the team
- Change the way players can drive the ball and stop it (for example with the sole of the foot, with the outside foot...)
- Explain attacking technique
- Correct a defender who doesn't defend the right way (how they should face the attacker, duel distance, positioning and so on)
- Promote attacker's fantasy, speed and initiative
- Attention to defense strategy and ball protection
- This drill trains conditioning during ball conquest and drive
- Keep competitiveness and intensity high
